Right Under Your NoseOpen your hearts and eyes to what's behind closed doors: An inside look at a teenager's bedroom.

Mason City Schools invites you to attend "Right Under Your Nose: An Awareness Program for all Adults" in the Mason Middle School Auditorium on Thursday, May 7
. Doors open at 5:45pm for the interactive bedroom, and the event speaker begins at 6:30pm.

“Right Under Your Nose” is a realistic, interactive exhibit designed to resemble a teenager’s bedroom to help educate adults of the unseen hazards our children are facing.

The event addresses items indicative of potential dangerous risky behaviors.
Topics include substance use, violence, juvenile crime, technology, risky games or challenges and more. The exhibit is accompanied by a presentation, discussion, and story of heartbreak and loss from a local mother, Beth Renner, who lost her 22 year old son to the drug epidemic in August 2016.

"MMS is working with LEAAD (Loveland Educating About Alcohol and Drugs). With the help of Beth Renner, we are bringing a program called "Right Under Your Nose" to the Mason community. We would love to have as many community members, MMS and HS parents as possible," shared MMS Health teacher
Kim Shaffer

"This is an adults only program where we educate parents and teachers about signs to look for and what to do when you suspect your child or someone else may be experimenting with drugs. LEAAD has presented at Loveland, Kings, Sycamore, Immaculate Heart of Mary, as well as for social workers at Children's Hospital, and most recently at the Children of Addicted Parents Conference in Northern Kentucky. And now, they are looking forward to hosting the program at Mason Middle School!"

This event is open and highly encouraged for all adults that have or work with children of all ages, including parents, coaches, teachers, and others.
