Mason City Schools' Diversity Council was formed in 2004.
The council, made up of parents and staff, meets monthly, and has subcommittees and building level teams. Our vision is to continue to build an equitable learning community which values and respects the dignity and uniqueness of all students, staff and members of the community while empowering diverse learners’ achievement.
We strive to:
- Take personal responsibility for our action towards others.
- Provide staff with practical training, support and resources in order to further promote a community of culturally competent leaders.
- Create teams of staff, students, parents and community partners who collaborate to create a culture that is welcoming and supportive.
Each winter, the Diversity Council hosts “Taste of Mason” to showcase our community’s diversity. At the Taste of Mason, you can sample a new dish, catch up with old friends, and be mesmerized by incredible talent!
