School Board Meetings

The Mason City Schools Board of Education always welcomes the public to attend board meetings, and there is a special time set aside at each meeting to share concerns or good news. ICRC TV

Community members are encouraged to speak to the Board during the “Hearing of the Public” section of the meeting. All you need to do is sign the attendance sheet, fill out and return a "Request to Speak" form and state your name before speaking. If you would like your comments recorded in the minutes, simply submit a written copy of your comments.

The school board generally meets two times every month. Meetings typically begin at 7 p.m. in the Mason High School Harvard Room, 6100 S. Mason-Montgomery Road. Call 513-398-0474 ext. 24004 to confirm meeting dates

Community members can view Mason City Schools Board meetings on community television. These meetings can be seen on Time Warner channel 8 on Saturdays at 12:30 PM, Mondays at 9:00 AM, and Thursdays at 7:00 PM.  Streaming video of recent meetings can be seen on ICRC TV.

While all meetings are open to the public, the board may call an executive session (or closed-door session) during a meeting to discuss personnel, property purchases, pending legal action, employee negotiations and security. These meetings are for discussion only, and the board will reconvene to a public session to vote on an issue, if needed, or adjourn the meeting. The Board may call special meetings if the need arises, with adequate notice given to each member, as well as the media. Adequate notice is generally at a minimum of 24 hours.
