The Mason City Schools Board of Education appointed new officers at its Tuesday, Jan. 11 organizational meeting. For the first time, the school board officers are all women. The board’s new president is Connie Yingling, and the new vice-president is Desiree Batsche.
Yingling first joined the board in 1999, and has served on the Facilities Committee, Policy Committee and Safe & Inviting Schools Committee. This will be her second term as president.
“Thank you to the board for putting your trust in me to sit in the middle seat. I'm looking forward to another productive year with this wonderful school district that we are all so privileged to serve,” said Yingling.
Batsche was elected to the board in 2019, and has served on the Student Achievement Committee and Safe & Inviting Schools Committee.
“Thank you for your trust in me. It has been an honor and a privilege [to serve] and I look forward to serving another year,” said Batsche.
The board also swore in newly elected and re-elected board members: Charles Galvin, Ian Orr, and Yingling.
